What is the SAHARA Special Needs Program?

 

SAHARA Special Needs Program is a linguistically and culturally appropriate program for people with disabilities. The program supports individuals and caregivers so that they can live with dignity and care. The participants organize monthly gatherings for the purposes of recreation and information. The program works in partnership with many other stakeholders.

 

Who can benefit?

 

People with disabilities of any age and their caregivers

 

What are the major benefits?

 

The benefits are substantial and include:

Services are in English, Punjabi, Hindi, and Urdu

Monthly get together for the purposes of recreation

Information and referral

Advocacy

 

 

How are referrals made?

 

Referrals are made by calling 905.677.0889 OR 905.790.0808. Community Based Agencies, Religious leaders, Family Members, Family Physicians and individuals may make a referral.

The program is located at 2829 Derry Road East, Mississauga, Ontario, L4T 1A5.

 

What are the hours of operation?

 

Organised monthly and on need basis
